- Several hours are spent reading plays prior to the selection of any one play for rehearsals and performance.
Rehearsal time usually runs 6 weeks for a 3-Act Play
Spring Play 2 performances
Duties and Responsibilities:
The director must select a play that is appropriate for high school students and be able to be staged at Roncalli. After plays are selected, dates for production must be scheduled on the school calendar.
Prior to each casting, play scripts are ordered and royalties are paid.
Approximately 7 weeks prior to production, tryouts are held to cast the play.
Rehearsals are scheduled with an attempt to work around students; busy schedules. The director must be present at every rehearsal. He/she must also arrange for staging, props, and publicity.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Support the mission of the Aberdeen Catholic School System: Instilling Catholic values and promoting academic excellence by nurturing mind, body, and soul.
- Read a variety of plays and choose an appropriate script
- Schedule and hold auditions
- Select a cast
- Organize and schedule rehearsals
- Block and rehearse actors
- Design and acquire scenery and props
- Polish performances and encourage actors
- Arrange performance dates with Activities Director and Administrators
