EMPLOYMENT TERMS:                 Season in accordance with SDHSAA or local guidelines
REPORTS TO:                                   Activity Director and Head Coach
REQUIREMENTS
A.  Education Level:                        High School diploma or equivalent.  Courses in theory of coaching or coaching principals and prevention and care of athletic injuries or coaching first aid or a qualified first aid course desired.
B.  Experience Desired:                      Previous participation and/or appropriate coaching
                                                            experience.
C.  Other Requirements:                     Demonstrate a genuine and up-to-date knowledge of
                                                            the sport including fundamentals, rules and strategy.
                                                            Maintain coaching philosophy consistent with the Aberdeen Catholic School                                                             System. Demonstrated loyalty to the athletic department, program, and head                                                             coach. Demonstrated skills in human relations, leadership and conflict                                                             management. Ability to communicate effectively and relate well with students,                                                             school personnel, and parents. Maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

Must have a valid South Dakota Drivers license and the ability to drive a vehicle.  Must be at least 25 years of age to transport students in a vehicle. 
 
D.  Physical Requirements:                 Possess sufficient strength, agility, dexterity, and
                                                            mobility to carry out all performance responsibilities.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

OBJECTIVES:

  2. To assist participants in dealing with adversity and success in a positive way.
  3. To demonstrate and work to instill pride in self, team, school, and community.
  4. To model Catholic values including good sportsmanship by respecting teammates, coaches, officials, and opponents.
GENERALS:
  • Assist the head coach in program execution and development.
  • Fulfill all duties and assignments cooperatively.
  • Manage and direct the team under Head Coach supervision.
  • Cooperate with all other assistant coaches in the program.
  • Work to improve coaching expertise through professional development.
  • Assist in supervisory duties at all events.
  • Maintain proper rapport with athletes, parents, and fans.
  • Make car assignments for out of town events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Activity Director or Head Coach.
